FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How much will it cost?
My relative/my friend/I can design a website for free. Why should I hire you to do it?
How do I add/change content on my website?
How do hosting and domain names work?

Q: How much will it cost?
A: The obvious answer is: it depends. A purely informational site (no e-commerce or self-administration capability) can run between $300-500. If you want to be able to sell things online or administer the site yourself (add news items or photos, for example), that will cost more. Just ask me and I’d be glad to give you a better estimate.

Q: My relative/my friend/I can design a website for free. Why should I hire you to do it?
A: Anyone can create a website these days, but unless they happen to be a web design professional, they aren’t likely to end up with professional results. The quality of your website reflects directly on your business; what would an amateur website say about your product or service?

Q: How do I add/change content on my website?
A: There are two options. The first is to have us take care of it. When you want to change something, send us an email and we’ll make the changes. This way, you’ll pay based on how much time it takes us to make the changes. The second is to have us design your website so that you easily make changes yourself through an easy to use online administration interface. This way, you can make as many changes as you want at no cost, but the upfront cost of the website will be greater because we must create the administration system. Most websites employ a mixture of both approaches, utilizing a do-it-yourself system for the most commonly updated things, while leaving larger changes to us.

Q: How does hosting (where your website is stored and served from on the internet) and domain names (www.yourbusiness.com) work?
A: There are a few options, but a common solution is for us to take care of hosting your site in exchange for a modest yearly fee. Meanwhile, you own the domain name (with a registrar such as GoDaddy.com). We’re flexible, so no matter your level of tech saavy, we can work it out. Just ask us.
