creating content

The quality of the content you provide for your home's website will determine its usefulness to renters. LucidEDE therefore provides the following information about content creation.

You need to provide:

  • Photos with captions and descriptions (recommended)
  • Text about your home, such as an introduction, amenities, etc.

Photos

We encourage you to take the photos yourself so that you can control exactly what renters will see. However, if you are unable to do so, LucidEDE can take the photos for you for an additional fee. Please contact us at to arrange a photoshoot.

For a standard site, you may include up to 20 photos; there is a fee of $5 per photo for additional photos.

Photo guidelines

  • Make sure the lighting is appropriate. You may need to turn on room lights and/or shut the blinds. We will carefully optimize the color, contrast, brightness, etc, of all photos, but it's best to start with a good original.
  • Photos will be cropped where necessary. Therefore you need not worry if a photo captures too much of a door jamb, for instance.

Sending your photos to LucidEDE

  • Digital cameras: Email your photos as attachments to . Depending on the number and size of your photos, you may need to send multiple emails (sending emails larger than 1 MB is generally not recommended).
  • Film cameras: Please have your film developed on a Photo CD, available from most photo developers. This is an easy way of digitizing your photos so that LucidEDE may publish them on your website. Then mail this CD (or a copy of it) to us. Contact us at for our mailing address.

    Captions and descriptions

  • Captions: Each thumbnail photo may have a caption under it, such as Dining Room or Master Bedroom. For simplicity, we suggest that you make each photo's filename its caption, i.e., diningroom.jpg.
  • Descriptions: The popup window for each photo may contain a one or two sentence description about the photo, such as: A view of the kitchen, including a modern refrigerator, range, dishwasher, and microwave. See the portfolio for examples.

Text

You have complete control over the text included on your website. We recommend that at minimum you include the following:

Introduction

The text at the top of the main page. This is the first thing seen by visitors. On the sample website, it takes the form of a couple sentences welcoming the visitor: Welcome to <Home Name>, and thank you for your interest in this cottage! This introduction to <Home Name> will provide you with an irresistable taste of this charming beach house. You are of course free to welcome your visitors in any way you please.

  • "What we like about our home"

We highly recommend that you include this section that quickly and concisely tells visitors what makes your home special. For example, from the sample website:

What we like about <Home Name>:

  • It is only 400' to the beach, with no roads to cross
  • The screened porch is the perfect place to dine
  • The surrounding trees and shrubs afford nice privacy
  • Etc.

Features

A list of your home's amenities. Generally this is an elaborated and non-abbreviated version of the description provided in the Southern Shores Realty brochure. For example, from the sample website:

3 bedrooms – sleeps 7 - 8 people:

  • Master Bedroom - queen bed plus a “flip chair” that converts into a small single bed
  • Middle Bedroom - two twin beds
  • North Bedroom - one twin and a bunk set

Well equipped kitchen
Great room with living / dining / kitchen areas
Lots of games, puzzles and books

Anything else you want to include

You may include anything else you want renters to know about your home, such as a description of an activity renters might enjoy at your home or a quote from a previous renter. Be creative - it's up to you.
